Last week I took my human on a much-needed vacation to Aruba where we met up with my insta-pals @ellabeanthedog and @brussels.sprout for a few days of fun in the sun. After my last 2 trips to Puerto Rico and Cape Cod, I was excited to experience another beach, and #spoileralert – Aruba might be my favorite place ever!
We stayed at The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba, a five star resort along the Caribbean island’s spectacular Palm Beach. With soft white sand, clear blue water, temps in the 80s with a light breeze – we enjoyed every minute of our time at the beach! I even tried paddle boarding and had my first “real” swim in the ocean (with a life vest, of course) – you can check out a video on my Instagram! The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba also has 2 beachfront pools and other water sports like kayaking and snorkeling, but I spent most of my time running around on the beach or relaxing in my private cabana.
The views from our spacious Ocean Front Room were stunning, and I enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset from our private balcony. As you know, I prefer to snuggle in bed with my humans but the Ritz-Carlton, Aruba provides beds and bowls for their canine guests as well as plenty of bottled water to stay hydrated.
The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba has a special dog-friendly menu featuring a “woof woof” cocktail of light chicken consommé, chicken breast, and diced vegetables (so delicious!) as well as other gourmet options like salmon tataki, flank steak, and duck liver pate. I also enjoyed watermelon “ice cubes” on the beach, plenty of fresh fruit, and a special salmon sushi dinner our last night at the hotel! My human loved all of her meals – from an Italian feast at Solanio, to a classic steakhouse supper at BLT, to poolside lunches from Madero – you really can’t go wrong with any of the dining options at The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba!
When we weren’t enjoying the beach or eating #AllTheThings (vacation carbs don’t count, right?!), we enjoyed relaxing spa experiences (yes, my human and I BOTH got in-room massages!) and stopped by The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba Casino to try our luck at a little roulette and other table games. Overall our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Arubawas definitely a dog-friendly experience – I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a truly luxurious beach getaway with your pup!
Pet Policy: Dogs weighing less than 20 pounds are welcome at The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba. A $250 non-refundable pet fee applies.
Traveling to Aruba: Aruba was a quick 4 hour flight from JFK and the hotel was a 20 minute drive from the airport! You can find the complete + current requirements for traveling with dogs to Aruba HERE. A few important requirements for dogs traveling from the US include: 1) a valid rabies shot + inoculation certificate 2) a microchip for identification when entering Aruba 3) a valid International Veterinary Health Certificate issued within 14 days prior to arrival in Aruba and endorsed by the USDA (After getting the signed health certificate from Mochi’s vet, we had to overnight it to the USDA office in Albany, NY with a $38 endorsement fee along with an overnight return envelope – then email all of the signed paperwork to the Veterinary Service of Aruba for approval.) For more information, the USDA APHIS website is incredibly helpful!
